56 ( +1 | -1 ) Bluebabygirl bannedI completely disagree with Mike’s decision to ban bluebabygirl for life from GK forums (for more info : see on her profile). The threads she started were always very funny and interesting, the messages she posted were always kicky and braught some colour to the monotonous world of chess. GK is more and more changing into a police state website governed by a despot with no sense of humour nor of humanity, and who is not aware – or do not care about – what his people want.
77 ( +1 | -1 ) yeahWhile I don't like the fact that bluebabygirl was banned (in fact, I don't want anybody to be banned), I still find it a bit disconcerting that "trampling on freedom of speech" is "completely un-American", because there are actually some countries outside the USofA that don't trample on free speech. I also don't like the fact that this adds an issue of nationality (since Mike is from Russia, I think) to the debate, which is very much deplaced. The forums have been a disgrace to this site for some time now, and Mike has contributed to this state with a number of questionable decisions, I believe. I wonder what he will do about it next.
42 ( +1 | -1 ) "Not aware what his people want"?
Well I, for one, have long wanted to see the end of bluebabygirl, whom I consider to be a complete phoney. By pretending (like another phoney,Sarah Tran) to be a teenage girl, "she" has elicited sympathy from any number of drooling middle-aged men who would have had no time for the middle-aged man that "she" probably is.
32 ( +1 | -1 ) ...I honestly don't care if she's really a girl or a strange middle-aged man. The bottom line is that bluebabygirl is a very enthusiastic chess player, and did bring interesting posts to this forum. I personally disagree with this banning.
89 ( +1 | -1 ) I never found her postings funny or interesting.
In any case, this is the webmaster's site after all, and it is up to him to set the rules by which we all abide. The postings in question were off-topic, and it was up to the Mike to initiate an appropriate reaction for the infraction. Whether any of us feel that the action taken was appropriate or not isn't relevant since none of us have accepted the responsibility of running this site. If you don't like the way things are run, you're always free to start your own site and run things as you see fit. I may not always agree with the decisions or direction taken (not that my opinion necessarily matters, as I'm not a paying member), but I can respect, understand, and appreciate Mike and the task he has in front of him to keep this place running day-after-day.
And just to try to keep my posting slightly on-topic for the forum:
57 ( +1 | -1 ) ...I'll say that I dont like the banning, but that is just what I feel. I do not know BBG, nor would it matter what 'her' true identity is to me...personally, I find her posts funny & lighthearted & contributing.... [though I can't understand why...just because her banning is brought up, there would be some who'd take it as a chance to fire their 'bullets'. Pls, I think your opinion should be addressed somewhere else...] ...but this is not my 'restaurant' and my opinions does not necessarily matters anyway. caldazar has stated it...
29 ( +1 | -1 ) In a CHESS forum?????I guess nobody bothers to read the warning posted at the top of each forum any more nor has any respect for the forum posting rules. Oh, well, closing this off-topic message thread for new posts as well, before more people lose their forum posting privileges...
